As many of you know we have recently done an extensive kitchen renovation. With that I have learned about a great gadget that everyone who has electricity needs – a whole house surge protector. As I found out you need one for each electric panel of your home, but ours cost $300 installed!
I no longer need individual power strip surge protectors on my computers, or electronics and all of my new kitchen appliances with expensive computer chips and digital readouts are covered!
As noted in this article from 2009 this is something we should all be calling our electricians to install today! Surprisingly surges, which I attributed to thunderstorms and power outages, occur more frequently from the appliances in our own home.
Televisions are protected with a whole house surge protector, but if you use cable your television may be blown by a surge through the cable. There are cable protectors such as this one that you should also install.
